82nd President – Jeffrey P. Smith

 

Chapter Presidents,

                Congratulations on your position for 2006! I look forward to the opportunities that we have ahead of us in the year to come. You have taken upon yourself a pledge to lead your chapter with the best interest of the organization in mind at all times. You are the leader and you need to lead by example at all times. Once at this level, it is not only an honor to serve in the position but it is a duty to your chapter to be its spokesperson and ambassador. 
In this packet you will find many tools and resources to help you along during your year. However its up to you as the President to utilize these resources and to steer your chapter to success. You hold in your hands the destiny of your chapter for 1 year. How do you want to be remembered?

                I will, in the tradition of many Past Presidents, set some focal points for your role to start out the year so that we are all starting on the same page. If you proactively participate in the following, your experience this year will be an enjoyable one.

  1. Actively participate in the Blue Chip Program.
  2. Communicate with your members on a monthly basis.
  3. Contact with me and your DD/RD Team every month.
  4. To meet all deadlines that are set including Mid-Month & Close-Out.
  5. Positive attitude and receptive to change.
  6. Get your people excited about participating in MIJC Events.
  7. Participate in Competitions on all levels. (Chapter, District, Region & State)
  8. Participate in US Jaycee Programs. (JAYS, TOYA, OYF, JCFAN, ETC…..)
  9. Utilize the training programs we offer. (LOTS, PRIME, EXCEL, ETC…..)
  10. Set expectations for your team and hold them accountable.
  11. Utilize the resources in PR and Marketing.
  12. Practice corporate responsibility in your chapter.
  13. Your chapter should have 1 New Member Add every single month.
  14. Have at least a 60% Retention Rate throughout the year.
  15. Always smile and have fun at every project you attend!

2006 is about building stronger chapters in the Michigan Jaycees and that is exactly what we are going to do, set the foundations that we can build our chapters upon for years to follow.  I am committed to helping each of you meet your chapter goals, because as a team we succeed together and we fail together.  We will always support each other when we are down and we will celebrate our successes as if they are our own. We are a team Michigan and we work together to achieve the best for our chapters!
